The 16th Street Mall is Denver’s hub of shopping, dining and entertainment that stretches for 16 blocks in the heart of downtown. An environmentally friendly free shuttle service stops at every intersection to transport shoppers to more than a mile of Denver’s best restaurants and shops. A Little Info. on The Rocky Mountains

The Rocky Mountains (or Rockies) are a major mountain range in western North America. The Rocky Mountains stretch more than 4,800 kilometres (2,980 mi) from the northernmost part of British Columbia, in western Canada, to New Mexico, in the southwestern United States. The range's highest peak is Mount Elbert located in Colorado at 14,440 feet (4,401 m) above sea level. Though part of North America's Pacific Cordillera, the Rockies are distinct from the Pacific Coast Ranges (as named in Canada) or the Pacific Mountain System (as it is known in the United States), which are located directly adjacent to the Pacific coast.

The erosion by water and glaciers have sculpted the mountain range into dramatic valleys and peaks. When humans started to inhabit the mountain range, some Europeans, such as Sir Alexander MacKenzie and the Lewis and Clark expedition, started to explore the range. Minerals and furs drove the initial economic exploitation of the mountains, although the range never became densely populated.

Currently, much of the mountain range is protected by parks, and is a popular tourist destination, especially for skiing. It is a land of splendor.

The History of the Middle Finger

Well, now......here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the hope that they, too, will feel edified. Isn't history more fun when you know something about it?

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew' (or 'pluck yew').

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew! Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird.'

AND TO THINK IT IS STILL AN APPROPRIATE SALUTE TO OUR ENEMIES TODAY!

An Interesting Story

Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

'I want to repay you,' said the nobleman. 'You saved my son's life.'

'No, I can't accept payment for what I did,' the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

'Is that your son?' the nobleman asked.

'Yes,' the farmer replied proudly.

I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of.' And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.

What saved his life this time? Penicillin.

The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?

Some thoughts of mine

I never realized how much I loved Colorado until I moved back home. I resided in and visited many other States. I made contact and visited many family members that I had not seen or heard from for quite some time, when I returned to good ole COLORADO.

One of my greatest joys is to go into nature and see the beauty that God created.
I know we have many beautiful States and people may have he same love for their home state as well, but this is mine.

Colorado has a variety of hot spots to enjoy. One place I was blessed to visit is
a place where some family members unite once a year, it is a good hike up and you absolutely need a 4 wheel drive to get to that location.

I never thought I would leave New Mexico, I lived there for many, many years.
Believe me that State has some beauty to it as well. I can say that i don't miss it
like i thought i would. Maybe because, I AM HOME.

Colorado my home state, where I will spend the rest of my life here on God's green earth.
